VENUE:

Dalozzo Art Gallery is located at Marina Mirage. A unique art gallery where all the art is created by one family. My mother, my father and myself. We first opened Dalozzo Art at Robina Town Centre in 1996. Then for many years we had a boutique gallery at Sanctuary Cove. We are now closer to home with our brand new gallery and studio space at Marina Mirage.

5 WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU:

Enjoy life, positive and young at heart

WHAT’S YOUR LIFE PHILOSOPHY:

We only have one life to live so live it to the fullest, no regrets.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP:

A florist – Or if that didn’t work, hide away in Kathmandu!

IN AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING:

I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN CREATING ART FOR:

My parents have always had an art studio at home so from a very young age I have been watching my parents create and learning from what I saw. I painted my first still life oil painting at the age 9 and still have that painting in my home.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE INDUSTRY:

I’ve been very lucky, both my parents paint for a living and exhibit in many galleries around Australia. Fortunately I had one foot in the door so to speak, but I still had to prove myself and put in the hard work.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WHAT YOU DO:

The best thing is that it’s not a job. I meet the most amazing people everyday and brings new challenges.

Beach Bag designed by Judith Dalozzo

YOU CREATED THE EXCLUSIVE NEW BEACH BAG AVAILABLE AT THE MARINE VILLAGE – CAN YOU TELL US THE INSPIRATION BEHIND IT:

The idea was to create a feeling that you get when you enter the cove. I’ve always been fascinated by the palm trees as you drive into the village. The village has changed a lot over the years but the palm trees have always been iconic. I created 2 paintings and let the marketing team decide what would work best on the bag. I think they did an amazing job and the feedback so far has been so positive, everyone wants one.

WHERE DO YOU DRAW YOUR INSPIRATION FROM FOR YOUR ART PIECES:

I travel a lot, at least once a year for the specific reason to find inspiration, weather it be the city, landscape or people. I like to take things from my surroundings and experiences I have and embed them into my art.

Recent trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

DO YOU HAVE A PARTICULAR PIECE IN STORE THAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE:

My new black and white series is making me excited at the moment. Having said that I want to continue painting palm trees as I just visited California and Palm Springs. I have too many ideas in my head and need to start planning what and how I am going to create this new series.

DESCRIBE A DAY IN THE LIFE OF YOU:

I get up in the morning and make the school lunches, play one hour tennis with my father, drop the kids off at school, open the gallery, check my emails, finalise any orders and then start painting. Go home, probably drop the kids off at soccer, make dinner and finally relax with my family. Then start all over again.

WHEN YOU’RE NOT AT WORK, WHAT ARE YOU GETTING UP TO:

I love watching my boys play soccer and the social side of it. I love cooking when I have time and inviting the family over for dinner. If I don’t have anything planned on my days off I actually prefer to go to the gallery.

WHAT TV SERIES ARE YOU CURRENTLY BINGE WATCHING:

My family and I are addicted to Lucifer at the moment. I also watch Big little Lies and The Handmaiden.

THREE PEOPLE (DEAD OR ALIVE) YOU WOULD INVITE FOR DINNER PARTY & WHY:

Georgia O’keeffe, such a fascinating person and I just visited her ranch in Santa Fe which was amazing. Picasso because I would like to pick his brain. Oprah Winfrey, good for gossip and interesting stories!

YOU ARE TURNED INTO A BIRD – WHAT BIRD WHAT THAT BE:

A parrot. Colourful and chirpy

WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE HOLIDAY DESTINATION:

Anywhere with my family.

DRINK: The local pub

RELAX: Gold coast beaches

SHOP: Pacific Fair

THE GC’S BEST KEPT SECRET IS: You absolutely can’t beat the Gold Coast hinterland. Bush walk and BBQ go hand in hand.

NEXT EXCITING THING FOR ME IS:

Working on my next exhibition and whatever comes my way…. Stay tuned!
